Number 6: Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 is a 2025 action role-playing first-person looter shooter game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. It is a sequel to Borderlands 3 (2019) and will release on September 12 2025. Set six years after the events of the last game, the story follows a new group of Vault Hunters in the ancient planet Kairos, who join its local resistance to find the planet’s Vault and overthrow the despotic Timekeeper.

Borderlands 4 has amassed over 1.8 million Steam wishlists, placing it among the top upcoming games in 2025. This figure highlights significant player interest and anticipation for the game and if it’s so high just on steam, you can just guess it must be close to this on other platforms too.

Number 5: Battlefield 6

Battlefield 6 is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts. Serving as the eighteenth installment in the Battlefield series, the game will release on October 10, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The game’s single-player campaign is set in 2027 and features a conflict between a fractured NATO and Pax Armata, a private military company. The multiplayer mode features four character classes: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, who each specialize with different weapons and combat strategies, and has several returning game modes with the new Escalation mode being added.

After the last Battlefield game, Battlefield 2042 (2021) received mixed to negative reviews, a new title in the series began development under the leadership of Vince Zampella. Influenced by Battlefield 3 (2011) and Battlefield 4 (2013), the game takes a serious tone. With an estimated budget exceeding $400 million, the game is one of the most expensive video games to develop.

Its been so long since a good battlefield game and the franchise’s rival Call of Duty has been getting so much hate due to the problems with too much monetisation, too many hackers, losing its player base as people liked it due to militaristic, badass and seriousness gameplay but they added unicorn and other skins that took that from Call of Duty, so Black ops 6 was on decline since launch. This mean’t that there was space for another competitor and that’s where Battlefield 6 came.

The open beta also generated significant player interest, attracting over 22 million players and setting new records for the series. The open beta periods were held in August, which had over 517,000 peak concurrent players on steam destroying Call of Duty’s records. Battlefield 6 had strong pre-release sales, with reports indicating 1.7 million Steam pre-orders and an expectation of 5 million first-week sales by October 10, 2025 by analysts.

Number 4: Outer Worlds 2

The Outer Worlds 2 is an upcoming 2025 action role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. It is a standalone sequel to The Outer Worlds (2019) releasing on 29 October 2025, set in the Arcadia star system that has been colonised entirely by megacorporations. Players will assume control of the protagonist, an Earth Directorate Agent, who is tasked with uncovering the source of emerging rifts that threaten to destroy the colony amidst a factional war.

As with its predecessor, The Outer Worlds 2 is played from the first-person perspective and involves alternating between various combat, stealth and dialogue systems when encountering hostile non-playable characters in the overworld. The game also retains its predecessor’s dialogue tree system which influences the branching story paths depending on how the player interacts with their party and other supporting characters throughout the narrative.

• Improved Combat: A new, more engaging, and less expected combat system that utilizes the increased budget from Microsoft. 
• Enhanced Character Creation: A more impactful character background system that affects gameplay more directly, with more balanced positive and negative traits and meaningful skill choices. 
• Longer Game: A bigger and a better game experience, building on the potential of the first title. 

Cosmetics & Companions

• Varied Cosmetics: More diverse and unique armor styles, rather than just recolors, and more extensive visual customization options. 
• Companion Content: The return of companion romance options is a popular request from the community. 

Number 3: Little Nightmares 3

Little Nightmares III is an upcoming puzzle-platform horror adventure video game developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It follows the first two Little Nightmares games. The game follows two new child protagonists, Low and Alone, as they navigate through The Nowhere and escape from a looming threat. It is scheduled to release on 10 October 2025.

Like its predecessors, the player explores a 3D world, encountering platforming situations and puzzles that must be solved to proceed. Unlike the first two games, the player can now go solo alongside an AI companion or with another player in online co-op. The two main characters have different gameplay mechanics, with Low wielding his bow and arrow, and Alone using her wrench.

Little Nightmares franchise is such a unique franchise, even though they are smaller games, they have a very deep mysterious lore around the games. Little nightmares 1 and 2 were both fantastic games so I am very excited to play the next entry.

Number 2: Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Yōtei  is a action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, releasing on October 2 2025. It is a standalone sequel to the critically acclaimed 2020 game Ghost of Tsushima. Set in 1603 in Ezo, Japan, the story follows Atsu, a rōnin seeking vengeance against the “Yotei Six” for slaughtering her family sixteen years prior.

Ghost of Yotei is highly anticipated because it, brings fresh storylines, a new protagonist, and an expansive, evolved open-world experience set in Japan’s Edo period around Mount Yōtei. It continues the legacy of cinematic storytelling and stylish combat while introducing bold gameplay innovations that deepen player immersion

Ghost of Yotei offers a large, beautifully crafted world with new mechanics such as the ability to set up camp anywhere for rest and resource management. It introduces a diverse arsenal of weapons, including katana, spear, kusarigama, and ranged options, each effective in different combat scenarios. The game emphasises lethal precision and adaptability, blending classic samurai movie-style combat with more new depths.

The last game was unique and amazing, the next one is shaping up as good or even better than the last one.

Number 1: Hollow Knight Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a Metroidvania video game developed and published by Australian independent developer Team Cherry. The sequel to Hollow Knight (2017), it will be released on 4 September 2025.

Hollow Knight was one of the most popular and critically acclaimed indie games of all time so this mean’t silksong had automatic anticipation and excitement by the gamers. So all that Silksong had to do was build upon the already loved game. After being teased years ago, the game faced multiple delays, leading to a prolonged period of anticipation and more talk about the game, this increased the people who knew about the game.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has approximately 4.8 million Steam wishlists, making it the most wishlisted game of 2025 on the platform. The game also is very budget friendly game, it is priced at $20 which is much lower than the average price for games so more people can afford the game soo this means it has a bigger audience. I am really excited to play the game hopefully you are too!
